The Northland Community Foundation Grants committee manage the distribution process and develop and recommend to the Board of Trustees all policy required for grant distribution.
Northland Community Foundation has formalised links with the following partners to distribute funds into the community:
Tindall Foundation
Northland Community Foundation is a Local Allocation Committee (LAC) within the Tindall Foundation philanthropic structure.
Our role is to match Foundation goals and priorities with local knowledge to make decisions on the most worthy recipients of its smaller donations.
We fund within our allocated regions, using a local needs assessment and a decision-making process that is managed through the Grants Panel.

Stories – What a Grant can do for a Community
Peter Crawford is the organiser of the “Lunches in Schools Programme” covering six schools in Whangarei.
It came about after volunteers visited schools and saw that there were a number of children attending school with very little or some times nothing to eat for morning tea or lunch.
The volunteers from Saint Vincent de Society prepare and deliver between 140 to 170 lunches per week to each of the six schools.
The programme has been operating for four years and relies on the goodwill of between 5 to 6 volunteers who make and deliver the sandwich lunches.
Peter Crawford, who is on the foundation’s investment panel worked closely with Carolyn Wagner to raise funds through a Tindall Grant application.
This resulted in the Tindall Foundation providing the funding to pay for all the bread and ingredients required to make these lunches for the past two years.

Northland District Health Board
Northland Community Foundation and Northland District Health Board have established a relationship to:
- Encourage community giving to benefit all Northlanders’ health needs now and in the future.
- Provide for additional medical equipment, support and help to staff, patients and families – as an extra to government funding never as a replacement for government funding.
The joint vision is that with community support we hope to fund state‐of‐the‐art medical and related equipment and generate funds to support medical excellence for Northland.
Stories – What a difference a ‘bus’ makes!
The journey up the hill has been made much easier for some hospital visitors and patients.
Donations from people in the community and applications for grants done by Northland Community Foundation help us to purchase equipment such as this that would normally be on the a ‘wish list’ item.
The ‘bus’ is run by a great team of volunteers who collect donations from people who appreciate the trip.
These donations go back into covering repair and maintenance and help to purchase other equipment.
